We decided to skip the official excursions and explore on our own. This island sits in the Baltic Sea between Denmark and Sweden and is a popular destination for many Scandinavians. It remains the hub of virtually all life and activity, infused further by the many cruise ships docking in the large harbor. Its appearance has been kept mostly medieval and encourages locals to produce historical crafts of glasswork, clothing and granite jewelry, pottery, artwork, sold in galleries and markets throughout town. The outstanding open countryside, sandy beaches and quaint villages make it a perfect getaway.
We walked the cobblestone streets and half-timbered houses, painted in various bright colors of yellow and orange and is referred to often as "Sunshine Island"! We stopped for lunch and beer at a very cute outdoor restaurant "Café Munter"; We did alot of walking, sightseeing and some shopping. A beautiful day on this island.
A quiet dinner together and decided to skip the show to have a relaxing night in our stateroom!
