I think they saved the best for last. We arrive in Stockholm which is the Venice of the North. You can see immediately that there are bridges everywhere traversing this beautiful city. We stay in the Hotel Diplomat which was very good once Anni managed to move our room to the 7-floor facing the water. Lots of pedestrian and boat ferry traffic from our now comfortable room. The city is experiencing a heat wave and the hotel is not air-conditioned. We take the big red bus and see all the sites in this fabulous capital. We have lunch at our hotel where I have, of course, Swedish meatballs. We see the changing of the guard for the Queen and the parade, but she is not in residence at the moment. Had she been in residence, it would have been a greater parade. We also board the red ferryboat and explore the city from the water. After not being able to get into the restaurant that was recommended to us, they in turn recommended another seafood restaurant in the park that was within walking distance of our hotel. We enjoyed oysters on the half shell with our cocktails and a local white fish entrée. We even splurged for a perfect dessert and very much enjoyed the service and hospitality. Back to our lovely room for an early night as tomorrow is a travel day!
