What a fun day! Who can say Liverpool without thinking of the Beatles!! We chose a tour called "The Beatles Experience". We took a bus tour and learned of the backgrounds from childhood on, of each Beatle! We saw Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, The Cavern Club and off to the Beatles Museum. The museum was amazing and informative. Did you know that John Lennon said "Elvis [Presley] was bigger than religion in my life".
A huge regeneration project over the past two decades has seen Liverpool blossom from being a below-par northern English city to a city buzzing with charm. The waterfront revitalization with bars, clubs, galleries and independent boutiques gave Liverpool some of the best dining and shopping there is.
We then spent some time on the waterfront of Albert Dock and got back on the ship to prepare for a Champagne Welcome Reception exclusive for the Silversea Grand Voyage Guests at the Liverpool Town Hall which has it own very interesting history and beauty. We stood on the balcony where the Queen addresses her people. We were then greeted with Brandy Alexanders in the large ballroom and we sat, ate, drank champagne and The Lord Mayor of Liverpool Councilor Mary Rasmussen addressed us. It was a lovely evening.
AND...we were welcomed back to the ship by our butlers and servers!! Amazing site!
